This is a story that's touched my heart, and shaken my spirit to its very center. I lied awake at night thinking about all of its many possibilities, and have thus reevaluated my entire stance on life because of it. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me. It doesn't take long for it to come back, This stinging pain within me. Yet again the world becomes dimmer, and darker, Reminding me that the path longer, tougher, harder than I ever imagined. It brings my hope down and my anxiety up. I learn what to do but my body freezes up in paralysis, took weak to take action. I'm not sure what's wrong with me. I know I've made a lot of mistakes, And they don't seem to have any end in sight. But I seem to be in a downward spiral. Sometimes I think I wasn't just cut out for this whole "life" thing.. The air gets thinner and it grabs me again, Pulling me under. I want to cry out for help. Scream, even.

It was a world that never was. A world without light. A world without hope. A world that never could.. And never would. Absence of memory, And fragments of reality. All whispering in the wind like echoes. Maybe they had a chance to be heard, once upon a time. But what lies here now is naught but shadows. The bell has since rusted, and the walls reclaimed by nature. The spot where the only shards of humanity left were buried, Now long forgotten. As far as logic is concerned, none of this exists. But what about me? Why do I still return here..

I used to dream of wide open fields, and endless blue skies. Kingdoms that would stretch for miles, and reach up to the highest heavens. I used to dream of great beasts that would roam the lands, both radiant and terrible. I used to dream of the stars, an infinite amount of mystery and wonder that lie above, looking down at me. There was always something to observe. A new constellation that flares into the brightest euphoria, right before burning away. Perhaps a magic blue box with a lonely god, or even ancient, titanic beings that would only be spoken of in hushed whispers, finding mercy in the darkness as their legends weave themselves.

It was everything he'd wanted. He'd been through so many battles, and lost so many friends and loved ones. It was finally over. As he ascended the spiral staircase of the tower he'd worked so hard to get to..a pillar of ice, in the middle of a deserted, barren wasteland, where not a sound could be heard but the icy waves crashing against the base of the tower, he finally began to wonder. Here he was in the most god-forsaken place on the planet, completely alone. All of his companions had either died or abandoned him, and for what? All he was ever trying to do was restore his kingdom back to it's former glory. "They just can't see the truth.

A martyr.. A stepping stone for something greater. A way that I create smiles, And bottle up hopelessness. It becomes cold, and anguishing, But still I carry on. Through cold, wind, and storm, All of these fantastic people, Will forever lead fantastic lives.. And I was able to help. Shouldn't I be happy? ..Or maybe..something else is turning to stone.

And the mysterious meddler, dressed in silver and coal, dropped his weapon of creation and ruin. It faded away before his snowy eyes..and they sank. The darkness descending around him, embracing him warmly as he fell to one knee. The shaggy brown and blood covered hair sagged over his eyes..and the gripping cold slowly faded. All around him, the sky began to light up brilliantly. Not with fire, but with stars. It was then that the meddler fell..further than he ever had, his body collapsing onto the hardwood floor, breathless and nearly gone. "It's..so cold.." he whispered, as a golden light enveloped him.
